Position Summary:

As part of the Finance team, the Trade Finance Manager supports financial operations in the trading activities across all regions and ensuring that AGT are fully secured financially. In addition, the Manager will work with the VP Treasury to identify Trade Finance Facilities required by AGT to efficiently finance its trade flows and ensure implementation of same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor expenditure against approved Department budget on a regular basis; investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
  • Develop knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP’s), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline within the Department in coordination with Human Capital to continuously develop employees with an emphasis on UAE Nationals to meet Emiratization targets.
  • Develop consistent and realistic long- and short-term operational plans for the Department in line with the Division objectives
  • Promote and encourage the continuous learning and development among team members
  • Coordinate with VP Treasury to develop and manage the Department annual budget in line with AGT’s business objectives and operational plans ensuring that adequate funding provision is made for all Department activities.
  • Coordinate the activities of regional Managers Trade Finance to ensure the Trade Finance team workload is distributed and managed in an efficient and effective manner
  • Coordination support with financial institutions in different geographies to all matters relating to trade finance including timely issuance and receipt of required financial security and managing collection processes etc.
  • Coordinate activities and processes with Invoicing team and other stakeholders to ensure documents are presented to the banks on a timely basis in full compliance of incoming letter of credit terms
  • Support the short, medium and long term company objectives
  • Ensure that all Department progress reports are prepared to provide accurate and timely information to AGT Management to effectively manage the business
  • Manage the implementation of the approved long- and short-term plans and ensure they are effectively converted into performance objectives to realise the Division Objectives and established service levels.
  • Liaise with traders, operations, credit and legal to provide prompt feedback on appropriateness of deals considering the existing trade finance facilities and risk framework
  • Support end-to-end activities and liaise with banks to help negotiate bilateral trade facilities and Credit Insurance in support of AGT trading activities in accordance with Group Policy
  • Work with the VP Treasury to define and execute the Financing plan
  • Responsible for the design and production of accurate and timely management information on a regular basis

Required Education & Experience:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of international markets and key players
  • 15+ years of relevant experience gained in a either in a mix of Banking and a corporate in the Oil and Gas Sector or only within a corporate in the Oil and Gas Sector
  • Ability to liaise with commodity operations, traders and credit to support the business requirements on a timely basis
  • Experience of dealing in banking relationships and the full suite of trade finance products such as LC’s, Inventory Financing, Discounting etc
