Position Summary:
The primary role of the Country Technical Specialist (CTS) is to ensure that Tesla’s residential products are consistently specified, installed and commissioned to meet Tesla’s technical and quality guidelines, as well as national code requirements and industry best practices.
The CTS works closely with the network of installation partners for residential products. They audit field installations and monitor support requests to identify any significant or recurring issues. They provide feedback and training to ensure that technical and quality guidelines, code requirements and best practices are being implemented.
By providing top-quality support before and after a sale, the country technical manager helps to ensure customer satisfaction and strengthen customer relationships. They work closely with other customer-facing teams like sales and service, and they facilitate communication about technical topics when necessary. They also support the development and deployment of new features and products.
As well as a strong understanding of the solar and storage market, the role requires solid electrical engineering skills and an in-depth understanding of code requirements and installation practices for residential and commercial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage available audit data and field feedback to track trends and determine appropriate corrective or preventive actions
- Develop strategy, processes and metrics to enable ongoing measurement and evaluation of quality in the network of installation partners
- Engage with the technical support teams to ensure speedy resolution of customer escalations when necessary
- Support field trials and localize technical content for deployment of new features, products and markets
- Perform quality audits of field installations to ensure conformity to relevant installation codes, practices and guidelines
- Provide day-to-day product and design support to customers and customer-facing teams
- Identify training needs, develop training material, organize and deliver training sessions for the network of installation partners
- Identify, drive and document certification and system requirements for regional incentives and technical standards
- Collect field feedback from quality audits and service requests and drive continuous improvement of products, processes and services
- Provide market feedback throughout the product development process to meet requirements for performance, compliance and reliability
- Partner closely with the account management teams to drive and strengthen the customer relationship
Required Education & Experience:
- Available to travel (“on the road”) for ~50% of the time
- Knowledge of health and safety rules, and best practices applied in the industry
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
- Excellence in electrical engineering
- Excellent facilitation, written and verbal communication skills
- A full driving license for at least 2 years
- Hands-on experience with quality assurance, service engineering and/or technical training
- Fluency in English
- Excellent knowledge of UK electrical installation codes, and the standards applying to storage & solar PV systems in particular
- Relevant work experience in solar PV or energy storage industry:
- In-depth understanding of electrical, solar PV and energy storage fundamentals
