Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is responsible for developing modern and engaging content to support the Office of Public Affairs strategic communication for reaching its internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzes engagement data to develop an understanding across a wide range of social media platforms, using that understanding to both create new ways to use existing platforms and expand the set of platforms used.
- Responsible for ensuring that content reflects audiences’ needs and agency messages.-Engage with audiences on the Agency’s social media platforms.-Creates engaging social media content to tell the Agency’s story.
- Supports OPA across DHS on social media issues: serving on workgroups, briefing leadership.
- Analyzes OPA social media efforts using quantitative and qualitative information, such as engagement data and measurements, developing reports for the Assistant Secretary and driving changes in approach to best support the agency’s mission.
- Provides or coordinates for social media coverage of major communication events and efforts using the Agency’s official social media platforms.
- Plans and creates multimedia content using graphic design, photo manipulation and video editing soft ware and techniques.

- One year of specialized experience listed above, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in Federal service;
- Permanent Change of Duty Station (PCS) Expenses will not be paid.
- You must be able to obtain a Moderate Risk Security Clearance
- You qualify for the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing administrative support with the management of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, etc.) and with the development of electronic graphics for distribution online and in various publications in order to support the organization’s engagement strategy for reaching its internal and external audiences.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
