Position Summary:

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for helping lead the creation of a technology framework and providing technical expertise in support of NFL IT Core Technology initiatives in cloud computing and automation. This role will have a strong focus on the implementation of services that run on cloud platforms.
The Cloud Engineer reports into the IT Core Technology organization but would be embedded into the Cloud/DevOps effort to provide engineering work and to evangelize best practices. Additionally, the Cloud Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that critical applications are designed and optimized for high availability and disaster recovery from an infrastructure perspective.

  • Tenacity in taking on new challenges in technology and learning new skills through self-guided and official training
  • Design, debug and resolve the issues developers encounter when attempting to use the services we maintain, with an eye toward continuously improving developer experience
  • Ensure delivered solutions are handed off operationally with appropriate documentation (e.g., best practices, design documents, run books)
  • Passionate about automating and improving processes
  • Ability to work with project management tools to provide detailed reports and project task timelines
  • Familiarity with large scale production systems and technologies, for example load balancing, monitoring, and distributed systems

Required Education & Experience:

  • Ability to design, implement and maintain our deployment pipeline infrastructure and services
  • Experience collaborating with Security and Architecture teams to ensure applications meet security requirements and are deployed in alignment with standards and governance processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting cloud service technical issues
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional DevOps development activities with other groups
  • Knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes & ECS
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Strong applicable knowledge of cloud best practices and security concepts
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes
  • Industry Certifications preferred
  • Experience working in a media and entertainment environment highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with running distributed systems in public cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
