Job Overview:
Citi is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of ‘Equities Application Senior Support Engineer’ within our Equities support team located in Sydney trading floor. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our suite of Equities Trading applications.
The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to provide technical support and production management functions in line with global support strategy, which will encompass managing a wide variety of issues ranging from business to technology problems.
The role will be very hands-on. Our team specifically works very close with business and development team, so we use a very investigative approach to problems as they arise. This individual will provide technical direction to fellow teammates. Additionally, the individual will be required to partner with teams in other countries/regions and as such strong communication skills will be required. The individual will form part of a globally aligned team that will provide an additional level of support to regional support teams that are based at/near the trading desks. The individual will play a key role in APAC start of day and start of week checks for Equities business.
What you’ll do:
- Perform appropriate problem-solving tasks before passing to another team with previously agreed upon format, logs, etc.
- Start of day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
- Effectively communicate issues and status updates with business support, regional colleagues and development teams.
- Manages, maintains and supports applications and operating environments, focusing on stability, quality and functionality against service level expectations.
- This is trade floor business facing role.
- Provide technical application support, monitoring the applications and technical platform, answer queries via phone, email and other communication mediums.
- Follow through to ensure each problem is resolved according to SLA.
- Work closely with the development, QA and business support team, and the Equities business to determine strategy and priorities and to ensure that the team is meeting the business requirements. Ensure team delivers on these priorities and communicated progress effectively to all stakeholders.
- Participate in after hours and weekend support on a rotating basis.
- This group provides the detailed knowledge of the applications and the upstream and downstream dependencies.
- When dealing with major issues, the group would be expected to make key technical recommendations based on their knowledge of the systems and the process flows involved.
- Provide technical and business support for users of Citi’s Equities Applications. This includes providing quick resolutions to app issues, driving stability, efficiency, and effectiveness improvements to help us and the business succeed.
- Develop and maintain technical support documentation.
What you’ll have:
- Knowledge with any real-time monitoring tools would be an added advantage
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer or Software Engineering or similar
- Experience with some programming languages (e.g. Python, Shell scripting) and willingness/ability to learn.
- Team attitude.
- 4+ years of experience in a Front office Application Support role.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Linux/Unix shell scripting.
- Effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams.
- FIX knowledge.
- Experience in working with traders and under high pressure environment.
- Clear communication skills.
- SQL database including writing SQL statements.
- Ability to plan and organize workload.
- Good understanding of the Equities Business.
- Working knowledge of IRESS or other Front Office OMS prefer
- Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholders.
