The Infrastructure Architecture and Governance team provides the strategic and project planning for the Canadian Tire Enterprise Infrastructure environment.  The Technology Planner will be a key resource participating in and driving this planning and design, both at the Enterprise and project level, balancing the functional needs of the enterprise with the operational needs of the sustaining organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain 3+ year technology roadmaps and maintain technology standards inventory
  • Develop and implement pragmatic infrastructure solution to deliver business value while adhere to strict regulatory and industry compliant standard
  • Some traveling between locations is required, as well as flexibility to work outside of normal hours
  • Provide direction for platform performance, capacity and workload management solutions for business projects and internal infrastructure projects
  • Deliver polished and actionable technological recommendations based on hardware and software product evaluations while factoring in business requirement, sustainment and cost implications
  • Provide technical leadership and technical consulting to CTC project and operational teams
  • Research and maintain an extensive knowledge base of current technology advancements, trends and directions for Linux (mandatory) and at least one of UNIX / Windows platforms in the Corporate and Retail spaces, focused on both on premises and Cloud deployments (at least one of Azure, GCP, AWS, etc.)
  • Develop, implement and evolve technology standards to meet business and technical needs

What you’ll have:

  • Experience with HCI technology such as VMware vSAN, Microsoft Storage Space Direct
  • Experience with Office 365, Windows Server and related technologies – Active Directory, AD Forests and Trusts, DNS, Windows Failover Clustering, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop 7.5
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code with CI/CD technology such as HashiCorp Terraform, Bitbucket, Github, Ansible, Rundeck, Jenkins, Atlassian suite
  • You have the ability to understand business requirements and recommend IT solutions to meet business objectives
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical lead or solution architect or system engineer in a mid to large organization
  • You can dive deep to troubleshoot when needed and clearly communicate your findings and proposed solutions
  • Problem solvers with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives
  • Experience with one of the public cloud platforms, Azure (preferred), GCP or AWS, etc.
  • A technology leader with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward
  • Experience with VMware vSphere/vCloud Suite,  integration with Active Directory, DNS, hosting of MySQL, Apache, tomcat, JBoss, JAVA apps
  • Agile and innovative individuals, who are able to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity to help us take bold and strategic moves in this rapidly evolving retail environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think and communicate in both abstract and concrete concepts, and to do so appropriately for the audience
  • You are a strong presenter who is equally comfortable presenting solutions and recommendations to Executives and sharing / driving ideas to technology platform SME and Developers
  • Experience with New Relic, Sumologic, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, IBM Tivoli Storage Management, Mcafee Endpoint Protection, IBM Security Directory Server
  • Expert in Linux OS management and architecture specifically with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8, Red Hat Systems Management (Satellite, Puppet, Foreman, Katello, Pulp, Candlepin, Proxy, idM, Red Hat Kickstart, SELinux, Kerberos)
  • Expert in container management with at least two of the following: Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, Podman
  • You are excited by new technologies and look for opportunities to bring them in to the solutions
