Position Summary:
We are looking for Buying Manager who embodies a passion for sports and keeping fit and healthy, as well as a leader who develops, inspires, motivates and drives a high performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- On boarding of new suppliers and product ranges creating an endless sporting goods aisle
- Establish and/or develop sustainable supplier relationships for TS own brand
- Continue to find growth opportunities in wearable tech and impulse
- Ensure successful execution of product / range strategy in store and online in collaboration with suppliers, store operations, planning, marketing and logistics teams
- Maximise all business opportunities
- Margin management and reporting, as well as managing imports and Forex
- Partner with key international brands to land our technical run, train and football offering
- Ensure reliable source of supply through sound processes
- Negotiate terms with suppliers in line with overall margin, service and quality targets
- Maximise opportunity in team sports categories
- Support the buying team in building trend-led ranges within range/price architecture
- Drive and develop the performance of the team with a view to optimise delivery and achievement of objectives whilst effectively managing performance issues or concerns
- Lead the Footwear, Team sport and Equipment teams
- Lead and develop a buying team to conceptualise and implement the merchandise strategy for TS own brand in relevant categories
What you’ll have:
- Analytical ability to effectively evaluate and drive functional KPIs, incl. sales growth, PIS, CSOH, input- and maintained margins, stock turn, clearance
- Minimum 2 – 3 years working experience at a management level, incl. people / team management
- Strong written and verbal communication at all levels of organisation
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Delivering to aggressive deadlines, incl. problem solving

- Minimum 10 years relevant buying / merchandise experience is essential
