Position Summary:

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Signalling Team Leader to join our Rail team to work in Eastern region.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Signalling Team Leader, your main responsibilities will be:-

  • Workiing towards gaining Signalling Installation Technician IRSE Licence (1.2.220 v2);
  • Undertaking installation work as directed and to project program;
  • Complying with and promoting health, quality, safety and environmental instructions;
  • Carrying out installation work to Signalling Installation Handbook (SIH) standards;
  • Ensuring correct tools, plant and equipment are provided for the task;
  • Understanding of the standards framework;
  • Taking responsibility for staff nominated as being under your control, including sub-contractors;
  • Timely completion of tasks;
  • Maintaining IRSE logbook;
  • Ensuring a site diary is kept and site work records are returned to the Construction Manager;
  • Effectively communicating task requirements to team;
  • Undertaking COSS/SWL duties as required;
  • Completing required paperwork for planned work;
  • Attending team, technical and safety briefs. Undertake site visits;
  • Motivating staff in the team and any sub-contractors;

Required Education & Experience:

  • Manual handling assessor qualification;
  • Awareness of principles of risk assessment;
  • Small tools training;
  • SMTH qualification;
  • Knowledge of appropriate industry standards relating to installation work;
  • Valid PTS with AC/DC;
  • Knowledge of railway signalling systems and sub-systems;
  • NVQ level 3 qualification;
  • COSS or SWL qualification;
  • Basic Signalling Technology (BST)training;
  • Basic planning skills;
  • IRSE licence Signalling Installation Technician (1.2.220 v2);
  • Emergency first aid qualification;
  • Basic knowledge of health, safety, quality & environmental standards;
  • Knowledge of Hazpak documents;
  • Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environmental Regulations.
  • Working in confined spaces training;
  • COSHH Appreciation training;
  • Manual handling training;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Fire safety training;
