Position Summary:

To undertake Site Engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress at the P66 site where Balfour Beatty carry out Term Contract varied Civil works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and application of TWC control to BB procedure;
  • Carry out Safety Inspections;
  • Read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification;
  • Work to Weekly Programme (drafted by others) and marks up progress achieved weekly;
  • Support the delivery of CSUKs Sustainability activities;
  • Produce Task Briefing Sheets;
  • Measure actual materials used and reconciles with theoretical measure, reporting and investigating reasons for differences;
  • Maintain accurate records Daily Diary, photographs, records of site discussions;
  • Maintain survey equipment including registers of equipment and testing regimes;
  • Carry out Hazard Identification and contribute towards development of Safe System of Work;
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm;
  • Carry out Setting out from primary control provided by others;
  • Provide sketches detailing the setting out information installed;
  • Produce as-built drawings & records for every element of the works involved in;
  • Carry out associated briefings;
  • Live the Balfour Beatty Values;
  • Complete Quality Check Sheets and produce information for Handover Documentation in a timely manner in line with programme;
  • Understanding and application of breaking ground / Utility Coordinator controls to BB procedure;
  • Contribute to production of Permit to Dig, including briefing to the workforce;

Required Education & Experience:

  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights;
  • Setting out techniques ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS, RD8000;
  • Reads and understands drawings and schedules;
  • Awareness and use of Specification and other Contract documents;
  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card or Equivalent;
  • Able to report issues with control and information provided;
  • Understands Activity Control Plans and production of resultant information for handover file;
  • Knowledge of specification and contract documents;
  • Environmental awareness;
  • Must be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works;
  • Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility;
  • Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately;
  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances;
  • Understands Permit to Dig System;
  • Knowledge of the construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Structures, Roadworks;
  • Leadership skills developing;
  • Targeting and actively progressing professional accreditation (eg ICE, IHT).
