Position Summary:
Chevron Belgium BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, is accepting online applications for the position of Marine and PowerGen Field test engineer located in Belgium or alternative locations (Netherlands, France, Germany, United Kingdom).
The Marine and PowerGen Product & Technology team is looking to welcome a new colleague with an affinity for the marine and powergen industry, and a passion for large diesel and gas engines!
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical support investigations, including assessment of oil analysis results, investigation of equipment parts and on-site engine inspections.
- Responsible for all aspects of marine and PowerGen diesel and gas engine oil field test projects, reporting and maintaining communications not only internally within Chevron, but also with external partners, such as maintenance companies and engine OEMs.
- The successful applicant should be willing to travel frequently and at short notice.
- Act as a motivated Chevron ambassador when attending vessels or powerplants, engine manufacturers and industry events.
- Successful candidates are expected to perform in-the-field / on-board engine inspections to assess industrial engine oil performance.
Required Education & Experience:
- The successful applicant should have proven experience in maritime and/or PowerGen operations, combined with technical expertise servicing large 2-stroke and/or medium speed engines and/or gas engines, either as a marine engineer, a repair superintendent, a technical manager, a superintendent engineer at a shipping company, a technical manager or a superintendent engineer at a marine engine OEM, or other equivalent positions.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, able to write technical reports. Spoken and written knowledge of other languages is an asset (Spanish).
- Familiar with latest IT tools (Office 365 package (Excel), Hololens, …), and willingness to continuously stay up to date.
- The candidate will be part of a diverse multicultural team and should be able to manage independently field test projects, as part of a virtual team. Needless to mention that analytical and problem-solving skills will be key to success, as well as maintaining effective customer relationships.
- Physical fitness is required to conduct engine inspections of large 2-stroke and/or medium speed marine engines.
- A degree in marine engineering or equivalent through proven experience. Ideal candidates have:
- 3 or more years of experience as a watch keeping officer or chief engineer, preferably in international shipping
- Or 3 or more years of experience with a marine engine builder.
- Or 3 or more years of experience working for an oil or additive company conducting lubricant field tests with industrial engines.
