Position Summary:

The purpose of the role is to apply deep technical/specialist expertise to analyze data, anticipate and diagnose problems, and provide solutions aimed at the improvement of processes, systems and work methods that meet internal and/or external stakeholder requirements through the application of sound accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • Involvement in clearing of GRIR monthly
  • Ensure compliance to IFRS guidelines and Group financial Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure quantifiable and meaningful monthly off-mine reporting in line with Operational Dashboard, Production & Financial Performance
  • Manage Debtors and Creditors
  • Manage Intercompany balances / Reconciliation
  • Manage all fuel cards / system
  • Manage Petty Cash
  • Responsible for administration of Travel System; Document Control & Insurance Claims
  • Review and manage all financial transactions and external Audits
  • Implement and maintain relevant Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Support processes focusing on cost control influencing expenditure flow to ensure no overflows between various years and identifying any breakdown of cost control inefficiencies
  • Ensure preparation & submissions of monthly performance reports to line, including analysis of results against historical data, budgets and forecasts compilation of cost meeting reports
  • Adhere to the safety, security and environmental procedures.
  • Review and ensure all TAX and VAT compliance (including preparation of Tax pack)
  • Responsible for ad-hoc payments (Foreign Payments; Retentions & Down payments)

Required Education & Experience:

  • Valid EC/Code 8 Drivers License
  • Experience in open pit and underground mining would be beneficial as well as experience gained in project/construction environments.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical abilities.
  • Experience in Accounting environments is preferred.

  • Accounting Degree or Diploma in Accounting
  • National Diploma or Degree in Accounting or relevant accounting qualification.
  • Ability to adhere to stringent deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP
  • Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work without supervision.
  • Knowledge and understanding of integrated systems (SAP and InEight would be beneficial).
  • Track record of relevant experience.
  • Experience in applying and implementing best practice principles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of integrated systems.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and the important role of consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values.
  • Grade 12/Std 10/N3 or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification
