Position Summary:
Are you highly-motivated, with extensive knowledge of fleet, Mechanical Handling Equipment and compliance legislation, policies, and procedures, plus a firm grasp of end-to-end logistics operations? Then make the move to Sainsbury’s and let your talent shine, as you play a vital fleet compliance role that will help ensure our shelves are packed full of everything from toilet rolls to prosecco to toothpaste – whenever they’re needed.
You don’t get from being a small shop in 1869 to one of the UK’s most loved retailers without a passion for innovation and a relentless pursuit for better. And that’s where you come in because, right now, we’re looking for a Regional Engineering Manager to join the Analytics & Compliance team covering Hams Hall, Barton, Tamworth, Shire Park, Crick and Daventry.
Keeping our shelves full for our customers depends on us having a terrifically tight team, whether on the shop floor or at our distribution centre – where this particular role is based. Your challenge? To manage fleet compliance, uptime, costs and audits and challenge the engineering standards required to drive Fleet and MHE operations in line with Sainsburys standards. Operating over multi-sites, both in-house and 3PL, you’ll work closely with the Depot Leadership team and Central teams too, in a role that’s fundamental in ensuring our fleets are safe and legal and that costs are controlled in line with budgets.
Required Education & Experience:
- First and foremost, significant experience in working in a logistics environment and excellent knowledge of Engineering Practices, both internally and externally.
- A good understanding of the external trends and best practice for all Fleet, MHE and Compliance is important too, as is a proven ability to use software like Zenith and MHE Manufacturers systems. What’s more, you have a sharp commercial focus and are as comfortable developing strong networks, including managing contractor relationships as you are identifying cost savings and efficiencies.
- Experience of managing and delivering end-to-end projects on a smaller scale, e.g. engineering process or systems changes, is essential too, as is a flair for analysing data and presenting information to stakeholders in an influential way. And, if you’re confident making critical time-pressured decisions in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, familiar with working in a highly unionised environment and have driving licence B (with C+E preferred too), we should definitely talk.
