Position Summary:

Due to increased workload, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to work in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office. You will be working within the Geotechnical l team to assist in the delivery of commissions undertaken nationally across Amey Consulting’s Highways and Rail accounts and ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards and delivery of all the specified project outcomes on time and to the quality required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Engineers, Senior Engineers, and other team members by contributing under supervision to the production of technically sound engineering solutions
  • Undertake surveys and site supervision duties
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, technical documents, and project reports ensuring compliance with current standards
  • Provide technically sound deliverables for technical geo-environmental commissions working under supervision
  • Contribute to outline and detailed geo-environmental designs
  • Assist with project planning, programming, cost control and administration
  • Assist in the planning and execution of geo-environmental desk studies, ground investigations and remedial works
  • Carry out inspection work, feasibility studies, report preparation, cost estimating
  • Analysis of geo-environmental data and the preparation of interpretative and design reports or sections thereof

Required Education & Experience:

  • A proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and modelling software such as Surfer
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Geology or Engineering Geology or equivalent in, environmental, earth science or chemistry disciplines (with strong Geo-Environmental technical ability and experience)
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with team members and internal stakeholders
  • Familiar with BIM document management systems such as ProjectWise
  • Knowledge of geo-environmental risk assessment modelling techniques and software
