Position Summary:

The Airport Equipment Operator is responsible for ensuring the grounds and maintenance of the Corpus Christi International Airport are maintained and in compliance with the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Paint markings on the runways, taxiways, and aprons per FAA specification and remove marking when needed, as well as maintain thermoplastic markings per manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Repair concrete and asphalt on the taxiways, runways, aprons, and service roads per FAA specifications.
  • Perform repairs to the airfield perimeter fence and gates. Fill in animal holes under the fence to decrease wildlife hazards at the airport.
  • Maintain grass heights between six and twelve inches per FAA regulations. Fill in ruts, level humps, remove edge dams and maintain pavement edge drop offs to less than three inches. Trim grass around lights and guidance signs so that they are visible to pilots and vehicle operators on the paved surfaces.
  • Perform preventative and minor equipment repairs with the airport mechanic as needed to ensure the equipment is operating properly.
  • Perform daily inspections and servicing of equipment before and after use.
  • Prevent vegetation growth in the fence line to maintain sight lines per Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.
  • Sweep pavement to remove debris that can cause damage to aircraft.
  • Mow ditches and perform vegetation control to discourage wildlife from using the ditches. Grade ditch bottoms to ensure proper water flow. Remove silt and vegetation from concrete lined ditches for proper drainage.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain an airport issued ID based on a fingerprint based criminal history check upon hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire.
